Your health is undoubtedly your most valuable asset. So with that in mind how do you protect your health ?

Yes you probably have health insurance to look after your health if you become ill and car insurance to take car of you should your health suffer as a result of a car accident. But isn’t that paying someone else to look after your health after things go wrong ? A bit like closing the stable door after the horse has bolted ? What are you doing, or, what should you be doing to look after your health right now ?

Do you get regular health check ups ? Do you exercise & eat all the right foods that are beneficial to your health ? Do you use health care products such as health supplements ? Do you smoke, drink or take drugs ? Are you aware of how these habits affect your health ?

I’m willing to bet that you make darn sure you look after your children’s health, making sure that they are not doing anything that is going to cause long term damage to their health ? But who is watching your health ? Who’s making sure you are not doing anything to damage your health ?

Health is probably something we all take for granted & only realise how important our health is when we are ill or someone close to us is suffering from ill health. However if we all do nothing in regard to our health now, waiting until we begin to suffer from ill health & then trying to do something about it may be too late as we may have already done irreparable damage to our health. If you could do something now to prevent one of your assets diminishing, such as your bank balance, your home or your car would you ? Yes of course you would, so what about your most valuable asset, your health ?

Well it’s about time that someone took control of your health, and that someone is you ! Take control of your health now and make sure that valuable asset, your health, is well and truly looked after. Here are some suggestions that might help you to look after your health:

1. Get regular health check ups. If you have a good health insurance these are probably insisted upon. After all we all give our cars regular “health” checks, isn’t our health more important than the health of our vehicles?
2. Make sure you eat a healthy diet. Even if you don’t need to loose weight the right diet can help to improve your health.
3. Take regular exercise. 30 minutes a day at least 5 days a week, even if it’s just a couple of 15 minute strolls, that’s not to great a chore to protect a valuable asset – your health.
4. If you smoke, stop now ! This is probably the best thing you can and ever will do for the sake of your health.
5. Cut down on your alcohol intake. Stick to the recommended guidelines for sensible drinking – for your health’s sake.

California is in fiscal crisis and Governor Schwarzenegger has a radical plan to balance the budget by slashing government spending. Fault Lines speaks to Jim Mangia, director at the St John’s Center. An advocate for health and human rights in LAs poorest neighborhoods, Mangia runs a network of 12 community clinics that serve primarily uninsured and undocumented people. The clinic staff expect be overwhelmed as a result of the proposed cuts to state health insurance programs. “Were talking about basically unraveling the safety net. So whats going to happen? Youre going to see what happened in the depression, where people were literally dying on the streets,” he says.

Help answer the question about health

What happens to private health insurance companies if American health care is nationalized?
Few would be willing to dish out for private coverage while they are receiving health care from government taxation. Would the private health industry perhaps dwindle down to a few big players and be forced to take a hit by improving coverage and care?
I'm well aware health care won't be nationalized. I meant to indicate this is a hypothetical question.

  1. Let me start off by saying, I work in a career center, I see resumes all the time and i hear from employers what they want in resumes and what they look at. That said these are my recommendations.

Your resume is waaaaaay too long, it should be one page MAX. I hear employers who say they THROW AWAY resumes longer than 1 page; they don't even look at them.

Your objective is way too long; it should be one to two sentences. Also, it is innapropriate to make salary demands in your cover letter. This should explain who you are and why you are applying to the position and anything else that your resume doesn't say.

Don't put in the bartending job, it looks like you didnt have it very long. Don't start with your skills section, end with that and dont put any skills in there that you mention when summing up your job duties, no need to put it in there twice.

Don't put the salary you received in those positions. If the employer wants to know, they will ask.

Finally, you have a couple spelling/grammar mistakes as well.

Oh yeah, almost forgot. LA area is one of THE HARDEST places in the nation to find a job right now. To say the job market is hard now is an understatement. It's an employers market right now, by which I mean employers get hundreds of applicants for one job. You need to be better than all of them to get a job. Consider taking classes right now if you can, if only to add it to your resume and say you are working on new skills.

  2. "Having read" would be better than "After reading". I don't think "it has become evident to me" fits very well in this context. I would use "I believe". There's a typo: "to capability" instead of "the capability". I think it would be better to say "meet or exceed" rather than "exceed", as the latter could sound a bit arrogant. "in which I am fluent" would be better than "I master".

I don't think you need "later", as it's obvious from the context that this will happen later. "work abroad as often as possible" could sound as if you're running away from something. Perhaps "I am also interested in working abroad to learn about other cultures".

Did you really intend the last sentence to be in French?

    The rest is perfect.

Having read the job posting for the assistant head of mission internship in the DRC, I believe that I have the capability to meet or exceed all of your requirements and become a valuable addition to your team. In addition to having a relevant educational background, I am also a talented writer in all of the three languages in which I am fluent (English, French, German).

  3. i didn’t start talking till i was almost 5…
